Upgraded Site, New Theme, Recipe

First off, I have finally upgraded my own blog to WordPress 2.7 (this is after I upgraded something like 7 other blogs first), and I can definitely say wow, this is quite a difference.  Personally, I love the new look and feel so far, though I might prefer to have a wider edit window for new posts .

Second, I felt it time to switch to a new theme (something that wouldn’t be very evident for those reading via RSS).  After looking around, I think I found one that fits me nicely.

And third, a recipe that I’m going to try out again tomorrow night at our weekly “movie night”.  I’ve made it a couple times in the past with pretty good success.  The recipe is courtesy of Jamie Oliver, and I’m pretty sure that he won’t mind me posting it since I seem to remember him demonstrating the recipe on Food Network (and a Google search turned it up in several places as well).  Technically the recipe only serves four and uses larger “pots” (i.e. coffee mugs), however I find that it’s better portioned out when you use cappuccino cups.

Chocolate Pots


1 cup light cream
7 oz best quality semisweet or bittersweet chocolate (70% cocoa solids)
2 large egg yolks
3 Tbsp brandy
1 Tbsp plus 2 tsp butter


In a thick-bottomed pot, heat the cream until near boiling. Remove and set aside for 1 minute before adding chocolate. Stir in until melted and smooth. Once melted, stir in egg yolks and brandy. Cool slightly, add butter and stir until smooth and shiny. Pour into individual serving pots.

PS. Sometimes if you add the butter when the chocolate isn’t cool enough it will make the chocolate look as if it has split. To rectify this allow the mixture to cool a little longer before stirring in some cold milk, a little at a time, until you have a smooth consistency again.
